Pat Korte

Patrick "Pat" Korte (born February 13, 1988) is an American political activist and a co-founder of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). Korte and Jessica Rapchik led students across the United States in reorganizing SDS in 2006.[1]

According to the New York Times Korte, then a sophomore at the New School, in Greenwich Village, sought to differentiate the 2006 SDS from its 1960's predecessor by noting:

  • “One of our strengths is having a clear understanding of what went wrong in the ’60s.”
  • “We know the drive for revolutionary change is correct, but blowing up buildings is not going to get us anywhere. Nor is joining the Democratic Party.”

In addition to his role in the rebirth of SDS, as a high school student Korte was involved with the American Civil Liberties Union and was active in the anti-war movement. He was also an organizer for World Can't Wait: Drive Out The Bush Regime in late 2005, but eventually became disillusioned and left that group.[2]
